Strategy and Approach

The main goal of this task is to build regional geoscience digital data sets for Alaska that are accurate, easily accessible, and support the analytical and digital infrastructure needed to conduct business. The digital data must be made available to users as products that are timely, accurate, and easy to locate and access. Strategies include conferring with research scientists to determine which digital data a project needs, digitizing exisiting geologic maps to create standardized geospatial data sets, and providing geospatial analyses of collected data to individual projects. Completed data sets and metadata are published on the World Wide Web.

 

Tasks

(1) Design databases and develop templates that can capture a variety of geospatial data.

(2) Create and maintain geospatial data sets.

(3) Produce and document metadata that is compliant with guidelines of the Federal Geographic Data Committee.

(4) Prepare geospatial digital data sets for publication.
