Contact: Trude M. Ridley, 303-236-1373, tking@usgs.gov
To further develop and demonstrate the effectiveness of spectroscopic remote sensing data for mineral resource analysis, this task will:
| |
- Support method development for the remote detection and mapping of selected scarce materials in a variety of mineral and geological settings and scales through laboratory investigations and field studies;
- Conduct laboratory studies to develop spectral standards for scarce minerals and test levels of detectability as a function of concentration and host-rock composition;
- Apply and demonstrate the utility of spectroscopic data as a tool for identifying and mapping scarce minerals in remotely sensed data;
- Integrate spectroscopic data (both remotely sensed and laboratory) with other datasets to better understand the geologic processes, mineralogy, geochemistry and geophysical properties of critical mineral-bearing deposits.
