Eastern Mineral and Environmental Resources Science Center
This task will investigate the environmental geochemistry associated with selected REE
deposits types through integrated research involving literature review, lab studies, field
studies, and modeling. Emphasis will be placed of REE, uranium, and thorium geochemistry
because literature reviews have identified these elements as the ones that present the
greatest risk, or that have the greatest uncertainty in understanding factors that influence
their toxicity.
